This fortsner set includes 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, 35mm diameter bits, each with an overall length of 90mm and a 10mm round shank. These forstner bits are made from a special grade of high carbon steel which is extremely hard wearing and retains its hardness over prolonged use, resulting in a bit that will not deform under heat and which will always keep the same cutting geometry, over its lifetime.

The rim of the forstner bit is a fraction of a millimetre higher than the chippers which results in the bit entering the wood cleanly, prior to the chippers clearing the wood. The double-chip channels means swarf is quickly cleared, minimising rim heat, allowing for clean cut, flat bottom holes in hard, soft and exotic woods. The teeth have a skewed geometry to ensure minimal fibre pull and tearing of the wood. The bits are back tapered from the cutting edge to reduce friction and prevent binding and have been fully ground to give precise concentricity to ensure a highly accurate hole. nice little cutter set

havnt used these yet but seem a nice set of cutters in a neat little box , ive ordered a few things from Rutlands before so have every confidence they do what there meant for !

I don’t regret buying this set in the least

If I’m brutally honest I bought this set to bulk up my basket and justify the postage costs. I already had a forstner bit set and this was a bit of an indulgence.

However, they knock my previous set into a cocked hat. The quality is obvious and the toothed blade surface cuts through woods of all types like a dream with no marking or burning. I would definitely recommend this set and will be looking to expand it again in the future.

A nicely presented set of the common sizes...

A nicely presented set of the common sizes . These saw toothed Forstner drill bits are ideal for wood turning as they work really well in end grain leaving a clean finish. These bits were ordered on line and I received confirmation of dispatch of them within 2 hours. Standard delivery meant they arrive first post the following day. the quality of these bits shines out and straight out of the box the cut did not disappoint.For the price a good value premium product.
