These M2 high speed steel brad point bits finely score the circumference of the hole, prior to removing the stock. This results in minimal fibre pull and tearing of the wood, for extremely clean holes in hard, soft and composite woods.

FULL DESCRIPTION
Made from M2 high speed steel these brad point bits are the finest that we have ever offered. They feature two lips on the perimeter, that finely score the circumference of the hole, prior to the chipping bevels removing the stock. This results in minimal fibre pull and tearing of the wood leaving extremely clean holes in hardwoods, softwoods and composite woods.

The bits are back tapered from the cutting edge to minimise friction and prevent binding and have been fully ground to give precise concentricity to ensure a highly accurate hole. The deep flutes are polished to allow fast chip clearance, preventing the build up of swarf in the flutes, resulting in smooth scorch-free side walls. M2 high speed steel is extremely hard wearing and retains its hardness over prolonged use, resulting in a bit that will not deform and which will always keep the same cutting geometry over its lifetime. After hardening these bits are tempered to reduce brittleness and increase ductility and toughness, staying sharp 10 times longer than carbon steel brad point bits.

These bits are certified to ensure the dimensional accuracy of the hole and are available in 1mm increments from 3mm to 18mm. ©

Excellent

Miles better than the cheaper versions I've used, with this 12mm bit cutting accurate holes for draw-bored dowels in tenon joints for some gates.
I'll look to buying a more comprehensive set in the future.

Really clean entry which no chipping and left a perfect circle. No binding albeit I do clear the swarf every 10 - 15mm depth. Impressed.

I had been using any old brad point bit in my workshop for projects until Rutlands marketing persuaded me to purchase one of these. I am very impressed, the difference between a standard bit is night and day.
